The Venezuelan National Guard and the Caracas police seized 33 beer delivery trucks bearing the logo of Venezuela's largest food and beverage producer, Polar, for allegedly selling beer and liquor illegally in the sprawling low-income barrios of the Venezuelan capital.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez accused the "extreme right wing" of the United States and Venezuela of being involved in last Sunday's military coup in Honduras, perhaps behind U.S. President Barack Obama's back.

Venezuelan opposition press, radio and television have adopted a mixed approach towards the coup in Honduras, criticising President Hugo Chavez's involvement in trying to rectify it, defending the currently sworn in president, and justifying the reasons for the coup, whilst portraying the situation in Honduras as peaceful and ignoring the military repression. Chavez accused the opposition of wanting a similar coup in Venezuela, and also of attempting to divide the armed forces.

Three members of the news crew of Telesur, the Latin American TV channel initiated by the Venezuelan government, were detained on Monday. They were filming military repression against demonstrators protesting the coup against the democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya from the rooftop of a building in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital.

  Individuals of every sexual orientation and gender identity arrived from the four corners of the country and marched this Sunday in Caracas to promote respect for sexual diversity.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called for all Latin American governments to organize demonstrations in solidarity with the people of Honduras at an emergency meeting of the nine member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for Our Americas (ALBA) in Mangaua, Nicaragua, Sunday night.

On Saturday, to mark the Day of the Journalist, media workers both for and against the Venezuelan government marched in separate marches in Caracas. President Hugo Chavez also announced the creation of a new national paper.

Venezuelan foreign minister, Nicolás Maduro Moros, said Sunday, from Miraflores Presidential Palace, that Latin America must guarantee the defeat of the coup d'etat against the President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, and try those responsible.

Military personnel kidnapped the ambassadors of Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua in Honduras, along with the Honduran Foreign Relations Minister Patricia Rodas, according to Venezuela’s ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Roy Chaderton.
